General Session III – S.M.A.R.T Destinations: Using Climate as an Opporutnity
The threat of Climate Variability and Climate Change has exposed the region’s vulnerabilities, and created opportunities for restructuring how we do business and live our daily lives.
Within this context, initiatives geared towards increasing energy efficiency, improving health and safety systems, adopting environmentally friendly practices, as well as mainstreaming the use of climate early warning information are of top priority as the regional tourism sector pursues the path to enhance competitiveness and climate resiliency.
This session seeks to not only identify opportunities for change but also showcase methods to make these changes accessible and profitable for our destinations and tourism businesses. Included will be presentations related to policy interventions, recommendations for private sector action and demonstrations on innovative products and services available to the region.
Moderator: Ms. Kimberly Carr-Tobias
