General Session I – Tourism Resiliency Through Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation

General Session I – Tourism Resiliency Through Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation

As a region largely characterised by Small Island Developing States (SIDS), the effects of climate change is an everyday reality for all Caribbean citizens.

With most of tourism’s resources heavily dependent on our natural landscapes it is important that we begin to chart a course to greater adaptability, inclusive of mitigation strategies that buffer our tourism industries from environment catastrophes.

It is under this premise that this session was created to frame the context of future climate conditions in the Caribbean, and discuss key areas of focus including coastal management, water resourcing, destination/business planning, and climate financing.
