CSSTF will critically examine Climate Change adaptation and mitigation, and opportunities for Caribbean Destinations by facilitating best practice sharing aimed at strengthening holistic destination management approaches in the region.
The Forum will also feature experiential field visits and a meeting of the CTO’s Sustainable Tourism Technical Committee (STTC). Strategic consultations will be held for a CTO climate adaptation project funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
CTO’s 2017 Sustainable Tourism Awards, which recognise regional sustainability champions, will be presented.
The CTO recognises that there is need for initiatives that manage the tourism sector’s response to climate variability and climate change (CVC) while reducing our environmental footprint.
It is clear however, that the sector cannot address the challenges of climate change in isolation, but must do so within the context of the broader international sustainable development agenda.
In this regard, we welcome your assistance to support resiliency building for the Caribbean Tourism sector against CVC and its impacts.
We invite you to be part of the Caribbean’s recovery, as your sponsorship support will help destinations enhance their climate resiliency mandate, and provide an opportunity for affected destinations to report on their progress three (3) months after impact.
Your sponsorship will benefit the CTO Scholarship Foundation, a US Registered 501C3 Charity that supports tourism education for Caribbean Nationals from CTO Member Countries.
