General Session IV – Tourism Recovery Roundtable
As the Caribbean rises above the ravages and carnage in the wake of an above-normal 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the tourism sector joins in the discourse as we look towards recovery.
September proved to be a devastating month for approximately 25% of the region, with some countries left to grapple with the tremendous loss of life and damage to infrastructure and property, after being struck by two Category 5 Hurricanes, namely Irma and Maria.
This session provides a platform for destinations which were hardest hit to share their lessons learnt and showcase rehabilitation and recovery efforts, three (3) months after impact, with specific focus on the restoration of their tourism economy, and their readiness for business as the Caribbean enters the Winter Tourism Season.
