Dr. Alex Brylske
Biography
Dr. Alex Brylske is a well-known dive industry writer and marine educator.
He recently retired as Professor of Marine Science at The College of the Florida Keys, where he taught courses in both marine science and sustainable marine tourism. Over his 40-year career he has written hundreds of articles, curricula, books, and has been a major influence on both marine and diver education.
Currently, he serves as Sustainability Editor for Dive Center Business, the diving industry’s largest trade publication. He also operates a consulting firm, Ocean Education International, focusing on sustainable marine tourism and resource management. He is a past recipient of NOAA’s Walter B. Jones Memorial Excellent Award for his doctoral studies in how sustainable marine tourism can support effective marine resource management.
In 2012 Alex was named DAN/Rolex Diver of the Year, one of the diving community’s most prestigious awards
