Cristobal Cal, a Kek’chi Maya, was born and brought up in the village of Big Falls, in Toledo District in southern Belize where he still lives with his wife Anita. Together they have ten children five of whom are still at home.
He graduated from primary school at the age of fourteen and then worked in a variety of jobs from a field hand to teacher to machine maintenance. He began work at The Lodge at Big Falls as facilities manager when it opened in 2003.
