Mrs. Faylene King is the Chief Operating Officer of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) and she considers it a privilege to be serving her country in this capacity. She believes “the possibilities for tourism development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are limitless and I feel honored to be a part of the government’s tourism development thrust for our destination”.
Mrs. King who served in the Ministry of Tourism as Communications Manager and Tourism Planner prior to being seconded to the Authority at its inception in January 2009 has direct supervision of the Quality Assurance and Quality Development Units as well as the day-to-day operations of the Authority’s offices and desks in SVG, Barbados, London, New York and Toronto; she is also responsible for the corporate affairs of the Authority. “If you know me well, you would know Communications is my first love but Tourism is my passion”.
King, who was a Caribbean Tourism Organization Scholarship recipient in 2006, holds an MSc in Tourism Management from the University of Surrey. She is also the holder of a BA in Media & Communication with Linguistics from the UWI and a Certificate in Human Resource Essentials from Cornell University. “My watchwords are professionalism and productivity, and I have always sought to always exemplify this in my work; I am elated about the tourism developments in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the prospects for destination SVG to soar with the input of our staff and tourism stakeholders”.
