Biography

Michael Carabash leads Canada’s largest dental-only law firm, DMC LLP (based in Toronto). He works for Ontario dentists to help them sell their practices. He raises and donates money for various charitable endeavors, including:

  • Tuition: to send a young girl to dental school at UTech Dental in Jamaica;
  • Farmers: to help Grenada’s Network of Rural Farmers (GRENROP) purchase equipment and build infrastructure to allow them to produce and sell coconut oil, cocoa, seasoning mix, sweet fruit preserves and pepper sauce;
  • Goods: to purchase and ship goods to the juveniles in the detention centres and women in shelter in Grenada (last Christmas);
  • Cancer Screening: to help bring enhanced breast / cervical / prostate cancer screening to Grenada;
  • Nursing Shortage: to help get money, equipment and training to Grenada to address the nursing shortage;
  • Police Band / Juveniles: to acquire band instruments to allow the Grenada Police band to teach the juveniles in the detention centres and
  • Dental Equipment: to purchase new dental equipment to be used throughout the Caribbean.

Since 2015, Michael has recruited hundreds of Canadian and U.S. dentists, hygienists, dental and hygiene students, and support staff to provide free treatments to people in Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Turks, and soon Bahamas and Sint Maarten. He does this in partnership with the Sandals Foundation, Great Shape! Inc., Henry Schein Cares, and local government and dentists.

For example, in August 2023, Michael helped launch a “Seal Grenada” initiative that saw almost 600 children at a primary school in Grenada receive 3,000 sealants, along with fluoride varnish to help prevent future tooth decay. At the same time, Michael helped run a large 20-operatory dental clinic at the National Cricket Stadium that provided free cleanings, extractions, restorations and root canals. In 10 days, almost 2% of the population of Grenada received over USD$1-million worth of free dental and hygiene treatments from approximately 140 Canadian and U.S. volunteers.
