Biography

Rudolph Edwards is a strong Indigenous Community Leader who has played a major role in the development of Rewa’s sustainable tourism, which is centred around the conservation of the Arapaima, a top predator in the Rupununi which plays a critical role keeping the ecosystem in balance.

Rudy as he is commonly called is a Master Story Teller and is one of the first Managers of the Rewa Eco Lodge, which was established in the year 2005.

In 2018, recognising his efforts throughout the years in managing and building a strong tourism product and experience, the villagers of the Community of Rewa (a Makushi village with about 300 residents) elected Mr. Edwards as the Toshao (Village Chief) for a period of two years.

He is happy to be part of the CTO’s 2019 Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development to share best practices and lessons learnt in building a strong and sustainable tourism product.
