Biography
Tasheka joined the UNDP GEF Small Grants Programme as National Coordinator for St.Vincent and the Grenadines in January, 2017. Since taking up duty as National Coordinator, She has implemented many community based projects spread across St.Vincent and the Grenadines, including the approval of 10 new projects across the mainland and the Grenadines islands. She holds an Msc in Agricultural Economics from the National Taiwan University, a Bsc in Agronomy, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Spanish from the University of Pinar del Rio, Cuba.
Prior to completing her Msc studies, Tasheka worked as a Senior Product Controller for the then WIBDECO company, working directly with banana farmers across the island and was instrumental in the conversion process of farmers to Fairtrade and Global gap.
Since completing her studies in Taiwan. She has worked on various projects in the capacity of lead Consultant/ Project Manager, and has worked directly with regional and international stakeholders and funding agencies. Some of the projects where she worked as Project Manager/ Lead Consultant include: National Implementation Plan (NIP) on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and fifth National Report Development Project, St.Vincent and the Grenadines, The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) Project: Strengthening National Capacity in The Management of Chemicals in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, and The Eastern Caribbean Marine Managed Areas Network (ECMMAN) project. Under ECMMAN, she successfully led the submission of five small grants projects which are based around creating viable livelihoods while solving environmental problems at the community level.
Working with small cluster groups, civil society groups, and community type businesses and organisations in developing, and improving the marketing and management of their businesses or products, has awakened within her a passion for seeing small projects come to fruition from the many successes witnessed. Seeing lives transformed in a positive way from just a simple idea makes her heart glad and gives her the impetus need ed to take on new challenges and new ideas .
Tasheka enjoys working with persons of different backgrounds as being part of a diverse team always offers positive learning experiences. She is passionate about the environment, is committed to volunteerism and enjoys giving back to her community and changing lives for the better, while bringing joy, hope and love to anyone in need.
Her proudest accomplishment to date is being the mother of a very creative, confident and energetic four year old girl who gives her daily inspiration to be the best person that she can be.
